Front-End Developer / Web Developer / Digital Designer

Join our award-winning Cardiff-based customer, offering a flexible hybrid working solution (2 days per week in the office, flexible).
An exceptional opportunity has become available for an experienced and enthusiastic Front-End Developer with a passion for design to join a successful and expanding team in Cardiff. This exciting position will require someone who can provide creative guidance, web development and design skills, as well as strategic thinking. You'll be responsible for ensuring outstanding user experience and the styling of front-end systems for customers across a broad range of projects. You should have a good knowledge of design coupled with a passion for development, to deliver high quality front end experiences, working closely with our customer's Design and Development teams.
Working alongside an experienced Design and Software Development team, you'll have input into all stages of the development lifecycle from requirements definition through to delivery. Working across our customer's product suite, you'll be tasked with applying your knowledge and exceptional design skills across a varied range of projects for customers in the UK and internationally.
If you have an interest in Game Design and Development alongside web front-end systems then all the better, as this is another aspect of the portfolio our customer is working on.
To make your working week as exciting as possible, we believe that you'd be responsible for some of the tasks and responsibilities below:
*creating visual assets for use in new and existing web applications.
*maintaining HTML and CSS across new and existing software products.
*focusing on the needs of the user and advocate on their behalf at all times.
*assisting in the creation of innovative, consistent and easy to use interfaces across our customer's product suite.
*helping to produce static designs, wireframes and functional prototypes to guide the development of new features.
*implementing the realisation of static designs, wireframes and functional prototypes with front-end development, working with front-end languages and API’s.
To prove successful within this exciting opportunity, we anticipate that you'll have some of the following experience and knowledge:
*previous commercial experience within a Front-End Development or Digital Designer position would be beneficial, ideally working with technically complex projects.
*previous commercial experience with Vue.JS would be highly beneficial
*ideally hold some experience of working in a Design function within a Software Development business.
*Design / Front-End Web Development degree or equivalent, or significant related work experience.
*experienced in creating web optimised visuals to supporting front end requirements.
*experience of designing and implementing responsive web and mobile application layouts in HTML, CSS and JavaScript (preferably Vue.JS).
*experience of designing Web / Mobile compatible layouts.
*experience working with RESTful APIs, implementing through the Open API standard would be beneficial.
*experience of Web Accessibility audits and ensuring sites meet relevant standards.
*strong knowledge of UI, UX, and iconography to develop layouts, visual treatments and user-focused design.
*knowledge of utilising user research and testing methods to elicit actionable data.
*knowledge of software development environments (C# / ASP.NET preferred) would be beneficial.
*creative with commercial awareness.
*a keen attention to detail is essential.
Technically, we believe that the successful applicant might have some of the following skills:
*strong experience of HTML, CSS and Javascript authoring.
*experience with Vue.JS.
*experience of RESTful API’s, using Open API standards.
*experienced with Adobe Creative Suite applications, such as Photoshop and Illustrator.
*UI design within an Agile development environment.
*an understanding of UX and User-Centred Design principles.
*the ability to communicate effectively both with users, designers and developers.
*knowledge of industry-standard design tools.
